The former Governor of Rivers State, Peter Odili has been gifted a multi-million naira house by the state Governor, Nyesom Wike, on his 74th birthday.
Wike was Chairman of Obi Akpor Local Government Area when Odili governed the state between, 1999 to 2007.
The Peoples Democratic Party Governor while celebrating Odili at a ceremony organised by the state government, appreciated the former governor for the role he played in his emergence as governor.
According to Wike, Odili had shown him how to achieve his ambition and the possibility of being betrayed.
Wike, who described Odili as one of the best politicians in Rivers State, added that Nigerians missed that they did not have him as president.
He said, “There was a time every political class abandoned Dr Odili. This is a man who gave us everything. Some people called him Mr Donatus. There was no abuse he did not get. Everybody tried to help their families, but at the end of the day, all betrayed him.
“For us, we have used him as a school and we thank him for making himself available for us to use him to learn so that we won’t be shocked by whatever is going to happen.”
Wike also pointed to opportunities he had gotten having learnt under the former governor.
