The Forum of All Progressives Congress (APC) State Chairmen has said there is no dispute within the party’s leadership.
Naija News reports that the forum’s Secretary, Alphonsus Oga dismissed rumours that there is run out within the party’s rank and file.
Speaking after a closed-door meeting between the forum and the Abdullahi Adamu-led National Working Committee (NWC) of the party, Oga noted that reports in some sections of the media about a crisis within the party especially concerning the postponement of its Caucus and National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings were mere speculations.
He told pressmen that “As you are all aware, since after the election we won and won so well, we have not had the opportunity of meeting our leaders, the national chairman, and members of NWC.
“The opportunity of the planned NEC meeting brought us together on the invitation of the NWC to meet with them and we are happy to announce that it became an opportunity for the forum of APC state chairmen to congratulate the winning chairman of our party, his Excellency, Senator Abdullahi Adamu and his hardworking team of the NWC.”
Asked if the NEC meeting was postponed due to the crisis, Oga said, “This is a moment where rumours and blackmail can thrive, but as a party, there is only one APC, and we came again in solidarity to say we are strongly behind our national chairman and the NWC.
“That is a complete rumour because whatever you might have heard about board membership, those letters were addressed to state chairmen, and every state chairman is loyal to his state governor and where there is no governor, they are loyal to the stakeholders.”
Recall that the party had scheduled its National Caucus and NEC meetings for 10 and 11 July, to 18 and 19 July.
Clearing the need for the shift, the APC national secretary, Iyiola Omisore, explained that it was pertinent because of President Bola Tinubu’s regional and sub-regional schedules and engagements.
He submitted to that, “There is nothing like that. If you have been following the itinerary of the president, he is presently not in the country, and he is expected to proceed on another journey.
“This was what necessitated the postponement of the meeting. This is a moment where rumours and blackmail can thrive.
“But as a party, there is only one APC, and we came again in solidarity to say we are strongly behind our National Chairman and the NWC.”
