Britain’s Got Talent Series 8 finalists Bars and Melody recently announced that they’re splitting up after 10 years as a duo. The pair posted a video sharing the news and promoting their final tour together this September.

BGT Finalists Bars and Melody Announce Their Split

Bars and Melody is a music duo made up of rapper Leondre Devries and singer Charlie Lenehan. They auditioned for BGT in 2014 with an original song called “Hopeful,” earning Simon Cowell’s Golden Buzzer. The young duo made it to third place.

“I couldn’t tell you why,” Lenehan said of their reasons for splitting after 10 years. “I don’t think there is a reason why. I think it’s more a case of just, it felt right … We wanted to end our legacy at a height, and at a good point. And it just felt so right.”

Lenehan added that it’s “time to move on,” pointing out that he’s now a father. He thanked the duo’s fans for their loyalty. In his own comments, Devries reflected on his “brotherhood” with Lenehan, saying they’ve “been through so much together.”

Devries got choked up as he talked about his experience performing in Bars and Melody, sharing that it changed their lives. He added that he hopes to “change the world for the better” and make their fans proud.

The Duo Is Going On Tour

Since they appeared on BGT, Bars and Melody have released three studio albums and two EPs. Before they officially say goodbye, they’ll be going on a final tour this September, with stops throughout Europe and Japan.

The duo released their latest single, “Chosen,” earlier this year. Lenehan teased in their announcement video that they’re planning to release one final album before going their separate ways. Devries also emphasized that they will “remain brothers.”
