There were reports that the National Chairman of the party, Abdullahi Adamu on Monday announced Lawan as the consensus candidate.

Naija News learned that Adamu announced Lawan as the party’s preferred candidate at the meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC) in Abuja.

The National Organising Secretary of the party, Suleiman Argungun, while addressing journalists at the party secretariat after the NWC meeting, however, stated that the issue of picking a consensus presidential candidate was not discussed at the meeting.
