In September 2020, rapper Lil Yachty posted a video to TikTok that had fans all riled up — and all but convinced he and TikTok star Addison Rae were dating.
In it, he answers his phone and addresses Addison, saying "Well I'd love to be your first Black spouse/lover," adding, "You've never been with a Black guy? Well, I'm gonna show you something." The TikTok video is titled "This is how I shoot my shot @adisonre."
Addison left a comment simply saying "boat." Which is maybe a joke about his name being Lil Yachty? Just her "boat" comment alone has 640 replies.
Is anything actually happening between Addison Rae and Lil Yachty?
Neither Addison Rae nor Lil Yachty have officially confirmed or denied dating rumors, but paparazzi did try to get the truth out of TikTok-er Chase Hudson (Lil Huddy).
"I saw that, that was funny," Chase replied when he was asked if he saw Lil Yachty's video. "Do you think they'd be a good couple?" the paparazzo asked. "Yeah, go Lil Yachty!" Chase said and laughed.
Coincidentally (or maybe not), it had recently been announced that Addison Rae was cast in a gender-swapped remake of She's All That. “This reboot is a welcomed step towards a new generation of Miramax storytelling, part of our greater strategy to leverage our existing library with fresh, re-imagined content in both film and TV,” Miramax CEO Bill Block stated, per Variety.
She also just reached 60 million followers on TikTok, and posted a video to announce the news to her fans. "60 MILLION????!!! THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH. My life is forever changed!"
Could the Lil Yachty be a little bit Addison promotion, and a little bit clowning around? Possibly! Could they actually be dating? It's also possible! Addison was most recently connected with Bryce Hall, but they broke up in late August. On August 26, Addison Rae tweeted, "single and ready to jingle anyways Christmas is literally in 4 months wtf."
Meanwhile, Bryce grumpily tweeted a few days later, "im single now stop asking me." Okay!
While Addison and Bryce were super evasive about their relationship, Addison recently opened up to Entertainment Tonight that it was a "confusing" situation, and that they were "on and off." Currently, they've decided to just be friends.
"There were a lot of times when we were on, we were off and it was kind of just a confusing situation. Right now, we're just kind of both deciding that there are a lot of things going on in both of our lives that we really need to focus on at the end of the day, we're both still wishing the best for each other and still friends," the TikTok star explained.
She doesn't seem to rule out getting back together with Bryce, though. "Who knows what will happen in the future. I'm kind of just living life day by day and we're still young so I'm really not to worried about anything. I think at the end of the day, there's a great plan in store for my life and if that's involving Bryce or not, it's going to be part of the bigger plan, which is going to be great," she said.
She was also rumored to be dating David Dobrik, but nothing has been confirmed.
