Kosgei's brilliance
In 2018, the sharp-looking lawmaker with an uncanny resemblance to the old man became the talk of the town following a TV interview on the contentious two-thirds gender rule which he was against and the state of the nation.
Appearing on Citizen TV's alongside nominated MP Jeniffer Shamallah, the young Kosgei articulated his issues with such rigour he stole the show from the host and grabbed all the public attention.
"Dear Koinange Jeff and Citizen TV, due to public demand, we request you bring this brilliant champ Alex Kosgey back on the bench to discuss more on matters economy and how to handle debt," one Twitter user by the name Julius Mmasi demanded.KANU Okays Gideon Moi to be Party's 2022 Presidential Candidate
In the same year, he reignited the debate on the ever-rising national debt even as the government continues to push for more foreign loans to plug a crippling budget deficit.
Kosgei revealed he was in the process of drafting a Bill seeking to tame the government's insatiable appetite for borrowing by capping the national debt.
The Bill, the MP explained, would require the National Treasury to submit to Parliament its proposed loan repayment plan.
The exchequer would also have to seek approval from Parliament before setting in motion any borrowing by the government, arguing this will bring more transparency at the Treasury.
The legislator emphasised Kenya must take control of its national debt now to save the future.
"We are actually mortgaging our children’s future. There is a threat in the future, we have to take control of our borrowing," he warned.Source: TUKO.co.ke
