"Comedian and radio presenter Felix Odhiambo Odiwuor aka Jalang’o today officially joined the biggest political movement in the country. He was handed the Life Membership certificate by SG Edwin Sifuna. We keep marching on," said ODM in a tweet.

He will be facing the likes of Silas Chepkeres Jakakimba, a one-time Raila's aide, who is also eyeing the seat on ODM's ticket.

The seat is currently being held by Nixon Korir, who won it in 2017 when he vied on Jubilee's ticket.

Lang'ata seat is my dream

Jalang'o announced his bid in 2018 when he engaged his fans in a question and answer session on Instagram.

A fan had asked him what his dream was, and without hesitating, he said he was dreaming of becoming the Langata MP in 2022.

“I want to come and take Lang’ata. ODM has never lost in Lang’ata in over 3 decades; I want to go back and bring the pride of Baba in Lang’ata,” he revealed.

He will be among the media personalities who ditched the microphone for politics.

In 2017, Mohamed Ali 'Jichopevu' coming from the Standard Group-owned KTN, made his first stab clinching the Nyali parliamentary seat.

The investigative journalist had been trounced at the ODM primaries but resorted to vie for the seat as an independent candidate.

Starehe's Charles Njagua alias Jaguar also left the entertainment scenes to begin his career in politics.

He floored activist Boniface Mwangi, who had vied for the Starehe parliamentary seat via the Ukweli Party ticket.
