There was a little confusion at the dais during the Annual National Prayer Breakfast at the Parliament Buildings on Thursday, May 27.

It started when the leaders, who included President Uhuru Kenyatta, his deputy William Ruto and the Speakers of the bicameral parliament, rose for the national anthem.

As the leaders readied up to join others in singing the national anthem, Uhuru stepped forward, followed closely by National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi.

However, after Muturi walked a few steps, he tried to pocket as though he was looking for something in his pocket, prompting Uhuru's bodyguard to frisk the pocket area.

According to Nairobi senator Johnson Sakaja, there was nothing regarding the incident as it was a matter of protocol at a national function.

"It’s not pockets. It’s that when the anthem is being played the president must be a step or two ahead of the rest. So he was being stopped from moving forward," he explained.
