- Jubilee's Secretary General said it was a miracle Kenya did not descend into civil strife since independence
- He said this in the context of the opposition carrying out activities, some controversial, against the government
- Since the 2017 election, the opposition purposely carried out activities contrary to the Constitution including the controversial swearing in of Raila Odinga as the people's president
- In swift and firm responses, the govt acted against opposition members; and among other things, withdrew their security and govt issued vehicles, arrested some of them and announced repossession of their passports
Raphael Tuju, the Jubilee Party Secretary General and docket-less cabinet secretary nominee, was of the sentiment that Kenya was lucky to have the kind of political climate it has had since independence.
TUKO.co.ke reliably learnt that Tuju said the country was lucky not to have descended into a civil war following several incidences of political hostility between the government and the opposition.

Speaking on BBC'S Hard Talk on Thursday, February 8, Tuju further said Kenya is not a nation state but 42 different nationalities unlike several other countries in the west.

"You have to understand this country a little bit more. We're not a nation state, we're 42 different nationalities. Its not like a lot of countries in the west. We're trying to forge a country out of a geographical phenomenon. This is a country with a lot of potential to break into civil strife, a civil war and its'a miracle we've survived over 50 years without having a major breakdown of law' and law and order," said Tujus
According to prior TUKO.co.ke reports, between 2017 and 2018, the opposition fought the government on several fronts after claiming the August and October 2017 elections were rigged and a sham in favour of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Several demonstrations were led by the National Super Alliance and tens of supporters' lives lost as police battled them on the streets. They demonstrated against the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, demanding their conditions be met or there would be no repeat presidential election on October 26.

NASA then called for the boycott of the October 26 election and the voter turn out was below average especially after the opposition withdrew its candidates from the race, claiming the outcome was pre-determined.
They also called for the boycott of several companies and services sympathetic to the Jubilee government after refusing the outcome of the October 26 poll.
NASA went ahead and begun setting up People's Assemblies in counties to push for change in the country, assemblies that ended up being considered illegal by the government because they were not provided for in the Constitution.
In 2018, NASA went ahead and swore in opposition leader Raila Odinga as the people's president on Tuesday, January 30, at the historic Uhuru Park grounds in front of thousands of people. This was after they said President Uhuru was illegitimately in office and there was no president in Kenya.

They swore him in with results from their parallel tallying center from the August 8 poll, saying Jubilee and the IEBC colluded to give Uhuru a win.
In swift responses, the government arrested several opposition legislators and deported Miguna Miguna, one of two people who administered the oath of office of the president to Raila Odinga.
The government also withdrew the security and government issued vehicles of several opposition legislators with the threat to impound those in possession of all NASA leaders in Parliament.
Some opposition members' passports were also frozen with plans in place to repossess several passports in legislators' hands.

The latest narrative by Jubilee, according to prior TUKO.co.ke reports, was that the Judiciary, led by Chief Justice David Maraga, is biased in favour of the opposition despite being expected to uphold fidelity of the law.
These sentiments were uttered by Tuju, Nyeri Town MP Wambugu Ngunjiri and Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen.
