A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, has joined the 2023 governorship race in Kaduna State.
Naija News reports that Baba-Ahmed expressed interest to become the next Kaduna governor in 2023 on Sunday during an interview with reporters in Kaduna, the state capital.
The former presidential aspirant said he was at the party secretariat to submit his letter of interest and inform the party leadership of his decision to run for the number one seat in the state.
Baba-Ahmed described his intention to run for governor of the North West state as a “call to duty” and to serve the people of the state to the best of his ability.
The PDP stalwart also promised to lead the state to prosperity, not because he wanted power or a position, adding that the residents of the state need a good leader that will secure their lives and properties.
Baba-Ahmed added that a leader’s integrity, honesty, and transparency are crucial attributes to have in order to better the lives of residents.
He said: “Our people are in dire need of a good leader that will secure their lives, their property and bring prosperity to the state.
“I am not here to seek for a job or a position, but I am moved by the plight of the people to offer myself to serve and lead Kaduna residents to the glorious Kaduna state we all aspire.
“A good leader is the one that solves societal problems, brings prosperity and development. Therefore, we will fail if we do not screen good leaders that will work to improve the standard of living of the people.”
