Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has reacted to his side’s exit from the UEFA Champions League after they lost to Spanish giants Real Madrid 3-1 on aggregates.

The Reds failed to turn things around at Anfield on Wednesday night having started the game from behind - following their 3-1 first leg loss.

Liverpool will only blame themselves for the ouster after they missed a couple of begging chances during the encounter as Klopp appeared to have singled out Mohamed Salah for their misfortune.

Neither side was able to find the back of the net after full-time, with Real storming to the semis at the expense of Jürgen Klopp's men.

Despite having a couple of chances in the second leg, Klopp’s men failed to find the back of the net against Los Blancos and now they return to the Premier League to battle for top four position.

Jurgen Klopp said via Liverpool Echo:

"We lost it in Madrid, that is clear. The level of performance today was good enough and had we gone 1-0 up, it would have been a different game."It was uncomfortable for Madrid, we were good, we were aggressive, we played some really good stuff, "Many times, Mo Salah would finish this type of thing. We had so many situations and we could have created more because the football we played was better."

In the other quarter-final fixture, Man City got the better of Borussia Dortmund, with the EPL leaders sinking the German side at Westfalenstadion to progress.

Real will now face Thomas Tuchel's Chelsea in the semi-finals of the competition, while Manchester City will face Paris Saint-Germain in the other match.
